"Burial 4": Found within the Pyramid of the Moon

Burial 4 was found in the fill of the sixth stage of construction of the Pyramid of the Moon, and was made up of 17 human cranium of individuals who were decapitated. There may possibly have been an 18th crania, since a vertebrae (atlas) was found that did not belong to the other individuals, but the crania itself was not located. This burial is the simplest of the three discovered to date. It did not contain any associated offerings and the arrangement of the burial was not as careful as in Burials 2 and 3. It was, however, also located on the central axis of the Avenue of the Dead.
