ARI Graduate Research Fellowship

ARI invites applications from ASU graduate students in the Department of Anthropology for a Research Fellowship valued at the equivalent of a half-time research assistantship. Term of the award will normally be for one regular semester, but may be awarded for two subsequent semesters. The award recipient will conduct a research project defined in their proposal. Preference will be given to projects that make use of or in some way add research value to the collections at ARI. Several domains of inquiry are of particular interest to ARI. These include materials analysis, information technology, and environment/human relations. The recipient will coordinate their research with the ARI permanent staff member whose interests most closely fit the awardee's proposed topic.

In addition to their individual research, the recipient will perform a nominal amount of service for ARI on an as-needed basis. These duties will not normally exceed a total of four hours in any given week and may include assistance with such projects as public outreach programs and curatorial tasks.

Interested students are encouraged to consult ARI staff in advance regarding potential research topics. Proposals should be no more than 5 pages and include project title, short description, timetable, and an indication of the project's relevance to both the student's graduate program and ARI's general goals.

Completed applications (2 copies) should be submitted along with a letter and vitae to Charles Redman, Director, Archaeological Research Institute, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ 85287-2402. Applications are not being accepted at this time.
