In 1993, archaeologists working in the eastern part of the Mimbres region uncovered architecture and artifacts made LATER than AD 1150.

Villages were abandoned, but the Mimbres region was not. Mimbres culture transformed as people changed their lifeways.

Hamlet residents were descendents of Classic Mimbres villagers, but their lifestyles were different. So, archaeologists refer to the artifacts and architecture made after AD 1150 as Postclassic Mimbres.
