The Roosevelt Rural Sites Study (RRSS) began in June 1990 and work was conducted at 27 sites by a team of researchers from Statistical Research, Inc. of Tucson. The final reports were published in 1994. The purpose of the study was to investigate the functional and social relationships between the small "rural" sites in the agricultural areas to the more aggregated platform mound settlements. These interactions are important for understanding the platform mound communites in a larger regional context. This study also examines prehistoric farming techniques used in these rural agricultural areas.
