Contents: Preliminary Lab Counts of Chipped Stone
Description: This analysis included chipped stone from the following 17 of the 27 sites excavated by the RCD project: V:5:104a & b/1045, V:5:189/1605, V:5:176/2029, V:5:4/26, V:5:101/1545, V:5:99/1543, V:5:178/2088, V:5:95/1539, V:5:100/1544, V:5:122/1001, V:5:177/2041, V:5:103/1547, V:5:110/29, V:5:123/1002, V:5:106/217, V:5:90a&b/96, V:5:1/25. The initial sort included separation of artifacts into gross tool and debitage classes and raw material types. From this analysis about one third (13,203) of the total number of peices of debitage were selected (based on temporal and contextual integrity) to answer primary research questions. Projectile points, tools, and cores from all 17 sites were also examined. More intensive analyses were conducted on a sample of six of the above sites which included: V:5:104a & b/1045, V:5:189/1605, V:5:4/26, V:5:106/217, V:5:90a&b/96, V:5:1/25.
