Table: RCDFAUNL

Contents: Faunal Analysis

Description: Faunal remains were recovered from 19 of the 27 sites investigated as part of the RCD project. Most of the faunal data was recovered from ¼ inch mesh, although selected samples were taken from five sites with 1/8 inch mesh. The 1/8 inch mesh samples all come from trash mounds and were taken to test faunal recovery. All faunal remains were analyzed except some from Meddler Point and Griffin Wash, where, due to the large numbers of animal remains, only faunal material from well-dated contexts was analyzed. Material was sorted into vertebrate classes, bone artifacts, and unidentifiable remains. Assemblage quantification was based on number of identified specimens per taxon (NISP).
