ARI offers educational programs that help Arizona's citizens learn about the past.
Public outreach activities conducted by ARI staff seek to inform the widest possible audience about the purpose of the repository. We also endeaver to convey information about archaeology and central Arizona prehistory that will enhance public interest and respect for cultural materials.
Look for ARI educational, archaeological and science-oriented family events. We offer hands-on activities sure to engage visitors of all ages.
Tours of ARI are available to small groups (15 or fewer) who contact us to make arrangements in advance.
"Why Archaeologists Dig Square Holes," a classroom presentation about the methods and tools used in archaeology, is available to individual classes of 30 or fewer students. The presentation requires at least 50 minutes. With additional time we can expand the experience to include a laboratory analysis activity or allow students to handle typical prehistoric artifacts of the Southwest. Limited staffing requires that the requesting school be in reasonably close proximity to ASU's Tempe campus. Please schedule at least three weeks in advance.
